The first part of the story of Bard, a medieval Icelandic dad who goes full Batman.
The creature is Stallo. It's made of turf and magic, but it takes half your remaining life as soon as it's born, so it's kind of like a real human child in that way.

Teen girls meet older men and they develop a physical relationship that, while it doesn't violate even modern day age of consent laws in Iceland, feels uncomfortable if only for the power differential. Additionally, since these are the sagas there are stabbings and beatings and such. Nothing terribly graphic but it exists
Part 1 July 31st Norse stops playing audio on Apple podcast at 22.5 minutes in. I have no idea what happened. Help!
A discord would be a fun place to hang out but the official news would be much better served via an email newsletter
Hello. Love the show! The best way to contact me about the show would be via email. Thank you! :)
How did Bard’s first wife die? I’ve gone back and relistened to that section several times, but I’m baffled. I feel like I’m missing something obvious.
I do not do any social media so I like the idea of an email newsletter
Definitely agree with a lot of the comments – email newsletter. I also want to suggest Patreon. All of the other independent podcasts I give money to are on Patreon and you can also have announcements available for people at a first tier where they don’t pay, they just follow the show for news updates.
I think you nailed it when you mentioned how fragmented social media is these days. I think an email newsletter is the way to go.
Another view for email newsletter. Though I’ll be honest, I had to think long and hard about it. My first impulse was Instagram. But the teeth is that there is so much nose there, it would be easy for your signal to be lost.
The same is true for all the other sources I use: Threads, Facebook, Reddit, Discord, Bluesky… si est tu ne list.
Mind you, that’s also true with email, but at least there I can create a filter to make sure I can find your newsletter.
I didn’t know if there is a simple answer to satisfy the needs of you and your audience. I’ll follow you where you decide to update us… but please! Didn’t choose X.
Email newsletter – I don’t do social media anymore 😕
Email newsletter. All social media is broken. 🫣
Email would be great! Maybe a Substack? My second place vote goes to Discord.
Email newsletter.
Leave info updates in the wrap up section of the previous podcasts.
Email :)
I’d use the Stallo to reboot the Internet at 9:30 every night which means you either have the annoyance of losing your connection at the same time or having to plan ahead when it gets close to 9:30.
And it’s no biggie for me, cause my bedtime is 9:00 lol
I use Podcast Republic and it’s been two weeks since I’ve seen any updates. I’m just praying you guys are okay. I haven’t heard this particular tale. I’m hoping all is well.
This will be the thread for discussing the social media stuff. Just reply to this comment with any thoughts you might have on the matter.
An email newsletter would be lovely for those weirdos like me that stay off social media. Not sure if it would be worth the cost though. Thanks for all you do! I really love this podcast.
I also like email newsletter.
Another lovely weirdo here who would prefer an email newsletter
I loved this episode. I’m currently knee deep in The Saga of King Hrolf and trying to convert it into a fantasy novel. Good job on all the pronunciations. Icelandic is not a simple language. Waiting on the second part.
I personally don’t sue social media at all so I think an email newsletter would be the most accessible option. Discord is my first choice but again, email is probably the best option for the most people
My vote is for this webpage. Feel as though people have engaged with this post as it is. And mentioning it in the wrap up led me here in the first place. Also,
I hadn’t seen this before, but I like the feed on your website that shows posts from Mastadon.
I don’t use that platform myself, but if I needed an update about something I’d come to your website first to see if something has been posted.
Tumblr is the only social media platform I use consistently. I’d say its D&D alignment would be Chaotic Good.
Otherwise, I’d prefer an email newsletter. I don’t like having to go look for things. I even listen to this podcast on Podcast Republic, ads and all, rather than remembering to come to this website, even though I’m a paying member.
I originally hit Facebook in the pole, but I do agree. Email is better. Might go back and change it to Email or there’s something else the pole if I can. As I have Facebook and mainly use Facebook if I do use social media, but I’m not really on Facebook much at all these days. so I definitely prefer email updates and news at the end of podcast episodes as well if you like. :-) I also agree Facebook and social media is very fragmented because there’s so much so many different things for people to be on and most of it I don’t use.
At 19 min on Apple podcast this episode’s audio stops playing. Also happens to episode Lend me your ears at 29 minutes. I tried reloading the app but that didn’t work.
