The creature is the Iara, from Brazil, a vampire mermaid who isn't thrilled to be a vampire mermaid but hey, it was the best her fish friends could do for her a the time.

Whoops! Thanks for letting me know about that and I’ll locate and fix it.
There are multiple versions of this story that are all pretty similar except that the protagonist changes between Rabbit and Monkey. I kept it Rabbit to fit with the larger story, but “Monkey” must have slipped through from my subconscious while recording.
