The story of Puss is Boots is that of a cat who wears boots and talks. The character of the cat has somehow gone on to be voiced by Antonio Banderas, take part in a one really successful franchise, spin off into its own movie AND Netflix series. The 2011 movie alone went on to gross, and I'm not making this up, over half a billion dollars worldwide. The original is something you haven't heard before, and has ogre fights, a cat con artist, and dating advice from the Myths and Legends Podcast.*
The creature this week has the boring job of constantly trying to destroy the universe, but hey, it gets two weeks paid vacation a year.

Here's the picture I talked about in the episode of Puss in Boots with the ogre:
Hi, first of all, thank you for your amazing show, it’s really interesting. I noticed that you talked about Charles Perrault a few times already. I’m French and I studied his book in high school. I’ve noticed that you were quite confused about what he wrote at the end of this story. Actuallly, he was often sarcastic when he wrote. It’s even more obvious in “Sleeping beauty” (when the prince is dumbfounded when he sees the princess outfit) and in “Donkeyskin” (when the father deals with the death of his wife awfully fast). And one last thing, when we say “Perrault”, the last two letters are silent. Thanks again for this show, you did a great job !
I tried to look up the creature of the week for this week because my brother was born in the time frame for this creature, but I couldn’t find anything. How do you spell it? It sounded like calicanceros, the imps that attack the world tree.
Hi Ross,
I found myself in your same quest and I found out that the name of the creature is actually Kallikantzaros. Here is the link to the Wikipedia Page.
