In the conclusion of the original Aladdin story, there's the meteoric rise of Aladdin, who is definitely not using magic to do any of this. Really. Will people just stop asking him that, already? I mean, so what if he made the most magnificent palace in the world overnight, and that it randomly disappeared. Nothing at all suspicious about that.
In the creature of the week, there's shapeshifting dolphin people. Here's the picture mentioned in the show...I could see it:

Hello! I’ve been a longtime lover of your episodes but this is the first time I’m leaving a comment. I’m so fascinated with the boto encantados, as I love watching nature documentaries featuring the rich diversities of wildlife in the Amazon basin. Hence, I appreciate you discussing them at the end. I hope that someday an episode will be entirely devoted to these river dolphin beings. Anyway, know that through this podcast, you bring much comfort, enjoyment and knowledge especially during these trying times. So, thank you very much!
Dear Jason
This podcast is totes-malotes, dawg!
I love mythology. Starter from the beginning a few day ago. I think from now on I’ll comment after every couple of videos.
Because I have questions. The SERIOUS kind.
1. If Ring Djinn and Lamp Djinn were to arm wrestle, who would win?
2. Could Doctor Strange (MCU version) defeat either one of these djinn?
3. When Aladinns father died of “stress” or whatever, could it have been linked to congenital heart failure?
4. This one is about Yvain in your first 3 podcasts.
Yo, why didnt Yvain just marry Lunette?
She saved his life and gave him a ring of invisibility!
Then later he saved her life and defeated those 3 accusatory knights.
I think they’d be a better match than the Lady of the Castle.
5. More Yvain.
So theres a magic rock in a forest. And if you pour water on it, it causes a storm to ruin a cityand castle.
Right. So why does that ugly “peasant” thing guide people to it? Like, is he an enemy of that city? What’s his deal?
Does he enjoy sending knights to get their butts kicked by the fearsome Black knight (and later the Knight of the Lion)?
Serious answers for serious questions. Here we go.
1. 100% the Lamp Djinn would win. He’s a marid, which is like a leveled-up djinn.
2. With the time stone, yes, without, probably not. They’re beings of phenomenal cosmic power without the limitations of an itty bitty living space. Most folklore djinn don’t even need to be summoned and they’re oftentimes so mischievous that they are synonymous with demons.
3. I mean, I have kids and I can totally understand dying from stress. I can see congenital heart failure being a cause.
4. I agree, they were a better match, but Yvain was the son of a king and the Lady of the Castle was a lady so…
5. I wish I knew. You could fill books with the plot holes from the Arthurian legends. This story was inspired by others, only one of which is written down, so there’s probably a reason for the peasant, but we don’t know it.
Hi,
I’ve just began your podcast, it’s really interesting! It’s great to tell stories, some of them famous around the world, and others completely unknown.
I’m wondering, would you know the music in the background beginning at around 12:56 ?
Hi Jason
Love the show. I am starting at the beginning. When listening to one of the Ali Baba stories you mentioned who did not know why he put a sword between him and Ruby when they were sleeping in the bed in the basement.
Putting a sword between a man and a woman who are sleeping together is a tradition that proves nothing will happen. Ali Baba tells Ruby that he means her no dishonor. By putting a sword between them, he is proving that he will not make an advances. Because who wants to fool around with a pointy sword in the way. I guess they cannot be moved. ( hear snarky voice)
Love the show!
Thanks! I figured it was something like that. It happens later with a different story and again (in a story I haven’t covered yet) with Lancelot. I couldn’t find any sources that clearly stated that, and didn’t want to mislead people with a guess.
Hey man!
Love the podcast so far!
Just wanted to know what the song is at 26:15 of Aladdin 2B?
Cheers
Let me dig out the old Audacity files :) This was made before I kept track of these sorts of things
