The story of Harap Alb (Povestea lui Harap Alb) from Romanian folklore has it all. Like, it really does try to jam as many fairy tale tropes in as possible, but it actually works. It's a fun story with a little bit of everything. Oh, and talking lettuce.
The creature is the Iwana bōzu (岩魚坊主) a priest who loves fish and has a seeeeecrettttt.

Loved hearing it in english – I even remember having some old slide projector with the comic book from back then.
I heard you would like to know more about the comic book from the 70`s – It`s by Sandu Florea

Enjoy the read and keep up the great work!
Being romanian this brought a lot of nostalgia, although the pronunciations hurt me.Also Harap Alb wasnt his name,it was a title(dont search it up )
This story was everywhere. It has mentioned goofy with seriousness sometimes. Many talking animals and Bald-mans. I had hard time focusing on the story but got used to it after the talking lettuce.
Hmmmmm, this story sounds kind of familiar….
