If you hear her weeping, it might already be too late. A life fraught with loss and betrayal creates a tragic and dangerous being that's trapped between life and death, salvation and destruction. She's crying out on the edge of madness for those she's lost, and she might be coming for the ones you care about most. This week, it's a deep dive into the stories behind La Llorona, the weeping woman from Latin American folklore.
The creature this week is the chupacabra, which is either a vicious blue imp, a spiky naked bear, or a coyote with advanced mange. One of these things is not like the other.

Child death is the premise of this episode, so there's no getting away from it. There's one murder scene that's a little more graphic than we usually get, but otherwise it's not terrible. Probably not an episode for children, though.
Awesome work on the episode! Having grown up hearing these stories, I really enjoyed listening to it in a new take. I would like to share, however, that even though La Llorona is often seen as an evil spirit, there is a story that portrays her as the protector of a town in Mexico. It’s been a long time since I heard it, but essentially whenever there was an attack on the town, La Llorona would step in and decimate the attacking forces. That’s about all I remember, but I again, I really enjoyed your take on her today.
I wish I could listen to this one. Most of the stories I can listen to and it helps me sleep. I have a 7yr old boy with Down Syndrome, he’s a handful and I need a “get away” into “storyland” @ night. Lol. For some reason some of these stories say I have to be a member to listen. Is this true??? I’m not trying to be a “WA WA cry baby” but with my son’s med bills and everything else, I can’t afford to pay to l u sten to a story. My family would laugh at me. I would be like ” my son’s med are 100 bucks, but I need a story on a pidcast” lol us there an alt? 5
Sorry about typos.
Hey! sorry I don’t think I understand. Is the website telling you you need to be a member to hear this? It’s on the main feed. You shouldn’t need to pay!
Just finished the story and can I say it was great. I’ve just recently started listening to podcasts maybe 2 months ago and came across your tales of 3 episode and was hooked. I have listened to just about all of you episodes and also working on your fictional casts too. You do a great job of telling the key details and bringing humor and modern things in for a small laff. This story I really enjoyed and gave me chills picturing what your saying while I work. Your stories have made my driving and work day more enjoyable. Don’t ever stop and I will be looking forward to the next.
One more thing I forgot to mention is the sound effects. I personally don’t like the sound effects.
Best wishes

Hey, thanks for reaching out. The background of La Llorona is similar to the one in the movie, but only because the movie follows the folklore pretty well. There are multiple versions of La Llorona in the world and it’s important to note that. We touched on La Llorona for a creature of the week segment before, but she really deserves her own episode. A lot of people have written us about her wanting us to expand on the story since there are so many versions. When the studio making the movie reached out about wanting to sponsor this episode, it seemed like the perfect time.
