Swords, dragons, werewolves, Vikings, betrayal, and revenge are all hallmarks of the thrilling, yet little known, Saga of the Volsungs, the story of an ill-fated medieval Nordic family. One of J.R.R. Tolkien's first Nordic reads, it's a tale of honor, love, loss, and vengeance, as well as the numerous benefits of just letting it go.
Also, I talk about the barbegazi, a helpful little frozen beard with huge feet. Here are the promised pictures! (go to the website for the pictures)

Hey, where’s the link for that Norse stuff you said you put in chronological order?
I am actually grateful to the holder of this web page who
has shared this impressive article at at this time.
Noticed that you called Hel “he” even though she is a goddess, maybe you will correct this in a later episode but I wanted to comment right away because otherwise I’ll forget it. It would just be a shame if people didn’t know the ruler of the underworld in norse mythology is a woman (as much as a deity can be a woman at least, I feel somewhat like the concept of woman and man are probably human hangups)
Wow.. interesting info. I’ve always assumed Hel was a ‘he’ :)
Just found this podcast and am loving it! Listening to the description of the creature of the week, I started drawing connections between the barbegazi and the Ice King in Adventure Time—especially the blue skin in the second image. Maybe an influence, if not a direct connection?
I’ve just listened to this episode. Interesting beginning! And this little beard is very cute :)
please do a Ragnarok episode it would be awesome
